Our commitment to you
At AltaLink, we’re proud to deliver the energy that powers the homes, farms, businesses and industries of more than three million Albertans.
You put your trust in us to not only keep your lights on, but to do it responsibly. We know that Albertans want reliable, affordable and greener energy, and we’re committed to delivering it to you. Always.
Ensuring that we meet your needs, at a price you can afford, requires a dedicated team working around the clock. Whether we’re monitoring the transmission grid 24/7 from our control centre, responding to an outage in the middle of the night, researching new methods to reduce outages on our system, identifying millions of dollars in energy savings for Albertans, or partnering with the communities where we operate, we’re here for you.
To us, Energy Always is more than just keeping the lights on. It’s also about continuing to find better ways to do it. That’s why this year’s Report to Communities is focused on our unwavering drive to ensure you have access to the energy you need, in the most efficient and affordable way.
Our world is changing. We’re now at an industry-defining point of time in Alberta as we shift to more renewable energy sources. The transmission grid is playing a key role in supporting a move to cleaner energy.
For several years, we’ve been investing in the grid to ensure that safe, reliable and affordable energy is there when you need it. With the completion of projects like the South Foothills Transmission Project, the Foothills Area Transmission Development and the Western Alberta Transmission Line, the infrastructure is in place to support the connection of more renewable energy sources without needing significant additional investment in new transmission lines or substations.
Not only are we prepared for this transition, but we’re committed to ensuring that the reliability and affordability our customers depend on is protected along the way.
In fact, in 2016, we significantly reduced both the length and number of outages on our system and we did this all while maintaining a strong safety performance record and finding new ways to reduce costs for our customers. We received approval from the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) on a rate relief proposal that will save Albertans $600 million by the end of 2018 and hope to see up to $150 million in additional savings approved by the AUC this year.
Alberta has an exciting energy future and we’re proud to be an important part of it with you. After all, at AltaLink we’re here, 24/7/365 to provide you with Energy. Always.
