That’s why we are committed to continuing to find efficiencies and improvements in the way we operate to keep more money in the hands of Albertans. This is how we’re doing it.
More than $650 million in savings for Albertans
We understand our customers want their dollars to go further on their electricity bills. Knowing that, we have identified opportunities to save Albertans more than $650 million on their energy bills through 2018.
In May of 2016, we received approval from the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) on our 2015-2016 General Tariff Application that includes a rate relief proposal resulting in $600 million in reduced costs through 2018.
In addition to that, an agreement we reached earlier this year with industrial, commercial and residential customer groups representing Alberta’s industrial and residential electricity consumers will save Albertans $50 million in additional savings in 2017 and 2018. In August, the AUC approved this first-of-its kind negotiated settlement between an Alberta transmission company and its customers.
Delivering value through engineering
We are grateful for the opportunity to work closely with our customers to ensure that we can deliver energy solutions that work for them. Through a process we call value engineering, we are able to identify sustainable cost saving solutions for our connecting customers using new technologies and practices.
Customer input is necessary for this process to be successful, which is why we invest a sufficient amount of time and effort into working directly with our customers to clarify and define their project requirements. In the last four years alone using value engineering, we’ve passed on more than $200 million in savings to our customers.
