Energy that empowers communities

Delivering energy to Albertans isn’t just about keeping the lights on. We are incredibly proud to support hundreds of thousands of youth in Alberta through our community investment program, Linked to Our Communities. We know that by supporting Alberta’s kids and helping them succeed, we are investing in a bright future for our entire province.

These are some of the amazing initiatives we proudly supported in 2016.

4-H Alberta
As a Legacy Builder partner of 4-H Alberta for more than 10 years, we are happy to support more than 6,000 kids as the title sponsor of its public speaking and presentation competitions.

Farm Safety Day
We welcomed hundreds of kids to the first ever Farm Safety Day held in AltaLink Hall on the Calgary Stampede grounds where we talked about how to stay safe on the farm.

Birdies for Kids
In our second year as the presenting sponsor of the Shaw Charity Classic’s Birdies for Kids program, we helped raise $3.7 million for youth-based charities in Alberta, helping more than 315,000 kids.

Alberta Birds of Prey Centre
Located in Coaldale, the Alberta Birds of Prey Centre rehabilitates injured birds of prey and our donation helped them build a new walking trail.

SAIT Power System Simulator
We partnered with SAIT to bring in a first-of-its-kind in Canada Power System Simulator, providing electrical engineering students the opportunity to model real-world scenarios and train on industry standard equipment.

ONEXONE First Nations breakfast program
We brought in a breakfast program to Ermineskin Cree Nation and Paul Band First Nation students, providing them with a healthy breakfast every morning to fuel their learning.

University of Alberta scholarship in Rangeland Ecology
We created a permanent endowment to fund a master’s level student every year undertaking research that supports Alberta ranchers.
